A Season of Excellence: TAI-VEX & The Journey of Our Robotics Teams SY25-26

Since its inception in 2019, TAI-VEX has grown into a cornerstone of the regional robotics community. This year was our most successful yet, as we welcomed over 400 students and more than 110 teams (50 VEX V5 and 60+ VEX IQ) from across Taiwan and Hong Kong.

What makes TAI-VEX truly special is that it is student-led. Our talented AST students served as the backbone of the event, excelling as MCs, referees, field resetters, and even gift designers.

VEX IQ (Mix & Match): It’s all about the stack! Students are designing robots to grab colored pins and place them perfectly on beams. Consistency is key here—one wrong move can topple a high-scoring stack!

VEX V5 (Push Back): Speed meets strategy! Teams are navigating the field to grab balls, control the long and central goals, and coordinate with their alliances. It’s a true test of teamwork and real-time problem-solving.

VEX IQ: A Season of Growth and Grit

For many of our VEX IQ students, this was their first year in the program. Despite being newcomers, their devotion led to massive improvements and impressive rankings at the Taiwan Nationals:

Our V5 program reached new heights this year, blending technical excellence with a heart for service. With a team of two Seniors and two Juniors, they have laid a foundation for the next generation.

Awards & Performance:

Energy Award at TAI-VEX Tournament

Global Recognition: The teams brought home two Innovate Awards from the Taiwan Nationals and the Signature Event in Vietnam, recognizing their unique robot designs and professional Engineering Notebooks.

Impact Beyond the Lab: Our V5 students didn’t just build robots; they built a community. From hosting summer camps at AST to bringing STEM to rural schools in Miaoli, Nantou, and Taichung, their outreach has inspired countless young students to pursue robotics.
